SIRAJGANJ, Oct 21: Acute shortage of local varieties of fish has seriously affected the dry-fish business in the country's Northern districts, sources said.
Once Sirajganj, Pabna, Bogra, among the country's northern districts, were well-known as the store-house of sweet water dry-fish.
But gone are the good old days. Now because of inadequate fish supply to the northern districts and death of running capital, the traders cannot run the dry fish business accurately.
Although dry-fish is considered as delicious food item in the country, acute scarcity of sweet water fish and unavailability of sea fish in the northern region has badly hampering the dry-fish processing and its business in the region, sources added.
