Ad-din Hospital gets back its operating licence

The government has reinstated the operating licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital at Moghbazar in Dhaka after it found the report of a fact-finding committee satisfactory.
A notification signed by the Secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday announced the withdrawal of the previous order cancelling the license of the hospital
However, the government has attached three conditions.
The conditions are: (a) The hospital authorities must comply with the provisions of the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 198; (b) completion of the process of appointing duty doctors and nurses as per the license conditions as quickly as possible and (c) in case of failure to comply with the license conditions, the authorities empowered by the government will take legal actions at any time.
Earlier, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) had revoked the licence of the hospital following the death of six newborns in the hospital's post operative ward.
On May 27, the six newborns died at the hospital. The DGHS revoked the hospital's license later on June 11 after DGHS found violation of rules and regulations.
According to the new order, the investigation committee formed earlier to investigate the appeal filed by Ad-din Medical College Hospital in the death of six newborns and further details of the appeal was instructed to conduct an on-site inspection and submit a report within three working days on July 15.
Since the report of the investigation committee of the health authorities was satisfactory, the authorities now revoke the previous license cancellation order and allow the hospital to resume its operations subject to three conditions, said the notification.
