Ad in private TV channels

Thursday, 27 October 2011

There is no denying the fact that advertisements are the main and possibly the only source of revenue earnings of the private TV channels in Bangladesh. Viewers, like it or not, the TV channels have to run advertisements for their very survival. Moreover some advertisements are eye catching and interesting for the viewers. The ad makers are also creative and use modern technology in their production. Many advertisements entertain the viewers as well as bring eye-relief for them. But everything should have a limit. The viewers too have a limitation of their patience. Top notches of our private TV channels must appreciate this. They must take into account what amount of advertisements the viewers will accept for a programme of a given duration. Otherwise, what happens will continue to happen. The viewers have remote controls in their hands. They will immediately switch on to other channels with slim possibility of returning back. At least this always happens in my case. I do not remember if I have ever seen A to Z of any programme telecast in our private channels. I believe this happens to all other viewers. No doubt our directors and producers make quality programmes, particularly entertaining dramas. But only because of torturous advertisements no programmes can withhold the viewers till end. This is one of the reasons why our viewers are getting inclined to the Indian TV channels. The ad sponsors should also appreciate that their costly efforts remain unnoticed by their target audience.
