ADB assures cooperation for Ctg port development

CHITTAGONG, Sep 8: A four-member Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation, led by its Country Director Hua Du, recently visited Chittagong port and Chittagong Customs House (CCH).
The ADB officials also exchanged views with the leaders of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
In the meeting with them CCCI President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and Senior Vice-President MA Latif requested the ADB country director to provide necessary financial and technical support for making the independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stronger and more effective to build a corruption-free country.
While exchanging views Hua Du said, ADB, in collaboration with the World Bank (WB) and the DFID, is working to develop the existing water supply and sewerage system of the port-city.
The ADB country director expressed satisfaction over the progress of the projects, presently being implemented under ADB's financial assistance.
Besides, she also gave assurance to extend all-out cooperation towards overall infrastructural development of the country including the Chittagong port.
Later, Hua Du had another opinion-sharing meeting with Acting Chairman of CPA M Yahiya Saeed and other senior officials. Later, she met the senior customs officials at the CCH.
