Executive Director (ED) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Curtis S. Chin, arrives in Dhaka today (Wednesday) on a six-day visit, sources said.
During his visit, Curtis will review the lending agency's operations in Bangladesh besides meeting representatives of the government and non-governmental organisations, businessmen, development partners and civil society people, a senior finance ministry official said.
A spokesman of the ADB local office said the ED will come here mainly to supervise the projects financed by the lending agency in Bangladesh.
"Since he is also a member of the 12-member board of directors of the ADB and approves different projects for Bangladesh, he wants to know more about the beneficiary country," the spokesman told the FE Tuesday.
After his arrival in Dhaka, the ED will have a breakfast meeting with US Charge d' Affairs Geeta Pasi Thursday and eminent members of the civil society over dinner.
Besides, the ED, who represents the USA in the ADB, will also hold discussions with finance and planning adviser Mirza Azizul Islam and secretaries of finance, planning and economic relations division (ERD) on the same day.
