Sultan Hafeez Rahman, Director General (DG) of the South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), arrived in Dhaka Friday for a five-day official visit.
This will be Mr. Rahman's first official visit to Bangladesh since becoming DG for South Asia in January 2010.
During his visit, Mr Rahman will participate in the Bangladesh Development Forum and hold discussions with senior government officials, including the Prime Minister; Ministers for Finance, Communications, Foreign Affairs and Primary and Mass Education; and the Prime Minister's Advisors on Economic Affairs and Power and Energy.
The discussions will focus on issues related to ADB's assistance program to Bangladesh, including infrastructure investment and support for improved regional connectivity, among other issues. The DG will also meet development partners before concluding his visit on February 17.
ADB, based in Manila, is dedicated to reducing poverty in the Asia and Pacific region through pro-poor sustainable economic growth, social development and good governance.
