Addl Tk 4.0b sought for MoE spending

The ministry of education (MoE) has sought an additional allocation of nearly Tk 4.0 billion for meeting expenditures of its different programmes and agencies, officials said.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid recently sent a letter to Finance Minister AMA Muhith seeking the fund.
Meanwhile, a high official of the ministry of finance (MoF) said no more additional allocation would be made to the MoE under the medium-term budgetary framework (MTBF) for the next fiscal year (FY).
About Tk 168.45 billion has been allocated for the fiscal year (FY) 2015-16 under the MTBF. Of the allocation, Tk 129.06 billion has been kept for meeting non-development expenditure and Tk 39.38 billion for development purposes.
An official of the MoE said an additional allocation of Tk 3.96 billion has been sought for meeting the non-development spending for textbooks, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the upcoming FY.
