TANGAIL, Aug 29: Transplantation of Aman seedlings has been going on in full swing amid heavy rain-fall for the last few days in the district.
Sources said continued light-to-heavy rain-fall has ended the drought-like situation here and the paddy fields have become suitable for transplantation.
Aman cultivation in the district has been delayed this year due mainly to insufficient rain-fall.
According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Tangail, about 75 per cent of Aman transplantation has already been completed in the district and the rest will be done within a few days.
A total of 110966 hectares of land have been brought under the Aman cultivation in the district.
Of them, 3300 hectares of land in Delduar, 5300 hectares in Nagorpur, 7670 hectares in Mirzapur, 1350 hectares in Gopalpur, 18836 hectares in Ghatail, 6500 hectares in Bhuapur, 9520 hectares in Kalihati, 1200 hectares in Modhupur, 9680 hectares in Dhanbari, 18600 hectares in Shakhipur, and 600 hectares in Bashail have been brought under the Aman cultivation in the district.
