Adequate rainfall expedites preparing Aman seed-bed in Magura district

MAGURA, July 27: Adequate rainfall is expediting Aman seed-bed preparation in the district.
Farmers' sources informed, a drought like situation was prevailing in the district last month (June). They were anxiously waiting for rain to prepare Aman seed-bed. Finally their long wait has come to an end with adequate rainfall in the current month.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Magura sources informed, they have taken a scheme to bring 61,561 hectares land under Aman cultivation in the district this season. Farmers have prepared about 2400 hectares seed-bed in the district till July 27. The total rainfall in the district from July 06 to July 27 is about 195mm.
Pijush Shen, a farmer of village Shatrijitpur under Magura sadar upazila said, "I have a plan to bring my two bighas land under Aman cultivation. In the meantime, I have completed preparing my seed-bed. Recent rainfall has come as a boon for us".
Golam Rasul, a farmer of village Gangnalia under Magura sadar upazila said in the meantime he has prepared seed-bed on his 20 decimals land. They are smoothly preparing Aman seed-bed due to adequate supply of seeds, fertiliser and favourable weather condition.
Magura DAE official Shohrab Hossen said, Aman seed bed preparing is going on in full swing in the district. Favourable weather and smooth supply of seeds and fertiliser are expediting Aman seed-bed preparation. We are also giving the Aman farmers proper advices, he said adding if such weather condition prevails we shall be able to achieve Aman cultivation target. [email protected]
