ADP spending of land ministry soars to 68.80pc

The Ministry of Land's annual development programme (ADP) spending shot up by over three-fold to 68.80 per cent in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, officials said.
The ministry had spent 68.80 per cent of its budget allocation under the revised ADP until April this year, up from 19.62 per cent in the same period a year ago.
In 2009-10 fiscal, the government allocated Tk 951 million to the ministry to implement seven projects, including six investment projects. Of the allocation, it had spent Tk 654.30 million.
This was disclosed Wednesday at a meeting that elaborately discussed the ministry's progress in spending ADP allocation.
Land Minster Md Rezaul Karim Hira presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Land Secretary Md Atharul Islam, Joint Secretary (Administration) Mohammad Ali Khan, public works department officials and projects directors.
The land minister urged the officials to accelerate the budget implementation pace and achieve at least 85 per cent of the total budgetary allocation spending target in the remaining two months.
At the meeting, the land secretary said public works department should speed up its efforts to implement projects as scheduled.
