Advance Eid-train ticket sale to begin from June 14

Bangladesh Railway (BR) will start selling advance train tickets for Eid holidaymakers from June 14.
Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan disclosed this on Tuesday at a press conference at the city's Rail Bhaban.
Passengers can purchase the advance tickets 10 days ahead of the Eid. Earlier, the advance tickets were usually sold before 5 days ahead of the Eid. But none will be allowed to refund Eid advance tickets.
Passengers will be able to purchase the tickets for June 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 on June 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 respectively, according to the ministry decision.
On the other hand, the return tickets of July 2-6 will be sold from June 22 to 26.
The Bangladesh Railway will operate eight new sets of special trains in different routes for smooth journey during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays Sujan added.
The railways ministry has also decided to operate one pair of new intercity trains on the occasion of the Eid on the Dhaka-Chilahati route, he said, adding, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the first operation of the train on June 4 virtually."
The minister said all tickets for western zone bound intercity trains will be available on online from 8am on June 14, while passengers will get tickets on online for eastern zone bound intercity trains from 12 noon on the same day.
The Minister said weekly off-days of all intercity trains will remain suspended from June 24 to till end of Eid special train journey.
He also said to maintain the train schedule on time, various measures have been taken including journey on the Dhaka-Panchagarh-Dhaka and Dhaka-Lalmonirhat-Dhaka routs from Cantonment Station.
The cross border trains - Mitali and Moitry Express-will remain closed from June 23 to June 03. However, operation of Bandhan Express will be suspended only on June 29. On the Eid day, few mail express trains will be operated on special arrangement but no intercity trains will be available.
From zero hour on June 24 to 6:0pm on June 29, all goods train operation will remain suspended except container and fuel container trains.
