Advantage in life for good-looking, fair-complexioned ones!

Tuesday, 7 April 2009

THE other day I happened to meet a person who went on to complain that people who are good looking or at least has a fair complexion has a lot of advantage in life. I told her that it could work the other way round as well that when people have a lot of expectations from people with handsome features they would surely be disappointed when those 'fair' persons failed to deliver or live up to their expectations. She was adamant and said that may be but her experience showed even if those beautiful people made mistakes or stumbled from time to time they were readily forgiven much of the times whereas if a person with homely features made a similar mistake he or she were more often than not taken to task.
To prove her point she gave us a situation at the garments factory she worked for as a senior supervisor. There were a number of supervisors in that factory, all female and there were at least two who had pleasant features and were 'very' fair. "No matter how many times these two make mistakes or perform less than they are supposed to, it is overlooked by the male supervisor and the male manager," she said. "But if those mistakes are made by not-so-good-looking women they are invariably and severely rebuked and at least one was fined on one occasion."
