Advisory board meeting of Holcim

Holcim (Bangladesh) Ltd, one of the leading cement companies of the country, recently arranged a meeting of the Advisory Board Members on Holcim Green Built Bangladesh contest at a city hotel.
"Holcim Green Built Bangladesh" contest is an initiative of Holcim (Bangladesh) Ltd, with the mission to create a culture of sustainable development by promoting the concept of "Green Built", catering to the needs of our present and future generations.
It is a national level contest and is open to all Bangladeshi Nationals above 18 years of age. The Total Prize value of the contest is BDT 2.0 million and under two categories - Built Projects and Idea projects. There will be a special prize for the special projects that didn't come within the mentioned prizes.
The last date of Project Submission is Dec 31, 2009.
Finance Minister, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, launched the contest at Radisson Water Garden Hotel August 20 last.
The current unplanned urbanization in the country has motivated Holcim Bangladesh to initiate such a program so that the country can be dreamt of being a Green Country. Currently Bangladesh is under threat of pollution, natural disaster, energy shortage, uncontrollable traffic and limited natural resources.
The motto of this contest is to come up with some effective projects and ideas that will lead to a planned development for the betterment of the next generations.
Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC of Brac University, chaired the meeting. Among others there are Prof Dr. Engr. S. M. Nazrul Islam, President - IEB, architect Mubasshar Hussain, President - IAB; Planner Dr Sarwar Jahan, President - BIP; Mahfuz Anam, Editor - Daily Star; and Rajnish Kapur, Managing Director - Holcim Bangladesh.
