Afghan election turnout can exceed 50 pc

KABUL: The turnout for Afghanistan's presidential election Saturday could exceed seven million, the head of the Independent Election Commission said -- more than half of eligible voters.
"(The turnout) figure may have increased to more than 7 million by 5:00 pm," Ahmad Yusuf Nuristani told reporters. Around 13.5 million people were eligible to vote, according to officials, according to a news agency.
