Tuesday, 7 April 2026

KABUL, Apr 06 (Xinhua): At least 110 people have been confirmed dead, 160 injured, and seven others have gone missing after torrential rainfall triggered flash floods across Afghanistan over the past 11 days, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) reported on Monday.
The natural disaster has caused widespread destruction, utterly destroying 958 homes and partially damaging another 4,155 houses, according to the authority. The floods have also washed away more than 356 kilometers of roads, inundated 15,562 acres of farmland, and damaged water canals and irrigation networks.
The authority has dispatched emergency assistance to impacted areas through provincial departments and urged residents to stay away from flood-prone zones and riverbanks during rainy periods to avoid further loss of life and property damage.
Rescue and relief teams, working with national and international organizations, are conducting damage assessments in flood-affected areas.
