Afsar for educated generation

Minister for Primary and Mass Education Dr Afsarul Amin said in the city Saturday the present government has attached highest importance on creating a new generation educated in modern technology to build the country as it fitted for twenty-first century, reports BSS. In view of this the government has undertaken a number of pragmatic steps for promotion of the general studies as well as vocational education in the country, he said. "Brilliant students will lead the country towards progress and prosperity, so they have to be provided with quality education to groom them up as the worthy citizens," he said. The minister was addressing a function organized by Chittagong Samity Dhaka on the occasion of Chattal Writers Conference and distribution of scholarship among brilliant students as the chief guest. Hailing the Chittagong Samity for giving scholarship to students every year, the minister said "it will encourage students to dream of their future and build up their academic career. President of the Samity Jahangir Alam Khan presided over the meeting while vice president Laila Siddiqui, general secretary Syed Nurul Islam, convener of 100-year celebration committee of the Samity Rezaul Haque Mostaque, among others, addressed the meeting. Later, the minister handed over the cheques of scholarship to 11 meritorious students.
