HABIGANJ, Nov 13: Agar cultivation has been increasing at two upazilas in Habiganj district. There are 145 hectares land has been cultivated for plantation of Agar tree at Putijury Forest Range under Bahubal Upazila in the district.
At lest one thousand poor people are engaged in this connection. Agar tree inspire them to change the life. There dream at future Agar tree will be matured and they will earn a lot of money.
Sunil Deb Bharma, a local worker said, we have cultivated since 2008 one hectare land. After 10 years, I hope more then one million money will earne from the Agar tree.
Muddat Ali local UP Chairman said we motivated the poor and helpless people. Jahirul Haque, Range officer of Putijury beat of forest said, Agar cultivation will highly appreciated and all assistance will be given on behalf of the government. Local unemployed people urged to getting land and told to the reporter they want to cultivate Agar and other valuable trees.
Agar cultivation increasing not only at Bahubal area but also was cultivated Rema and Sathchory hill under Chunarughat Upazila in the district. Because it is more profitable compared than other tree plantation source said.
Anisur Rahman (40), a Agar grower under of Bahubal Upazila told FE the production of Agar will high if forest authority ensure all types of support.
More over Agar cultivation has been increased on public ownership at Chunarughat Upazila.
Beat officer Jahirul Islam said, easy land distribution system and good price of the produce inspired farmers to grow more Agar.
