Age Group National Swimming begins today

The BRB Cables 26th Age Group National Swimming Competition, organised by Bangladesh Swimming Federation, begins today (Thursday) at the National Swimming Complex in Mirpur of the city, reports UNB.
Mahbub Ara Begum Gini, member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Sports Ministry, will formally inaugurate the three-day meet as chief guest at 9:00 am.
A total of 634 swimmers -- 464 boys and 170 girls -- from 33 DSAs, 34 swimming clubs, BKSP and Ansar will take part in the competition.
Some 112 officials will be involved with the competition.
Swimming federation will bear the expenses of transport, food and accommodation for the swimmers and officials who will come from outside the capital.
Of the total budget of Tk 1.3 million (13 lakh), sponsors BRB Cables provided Tk 0.5 million.
Swimming federation acting general secretary Jasim Uddin Khasru disclosed the details at a press conference at the NSC conference room Wednesday afternoon.
BRB Cables senior general manager ATM Enamul Kabir and swimming federation member Morsalin Ahmed were, among others, present.
