Agitation by staff hits services at Mitford Hospital

Tuesday, 9 June 2015

Services at Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital (Mitford) have been hampered for over an hour for the second consecutive day due to demonstrations by the employees. Patients suffered as Class III and IV employees stopped observed one-hour work-stoppage and demonstrated on the hospital premises to press for their demands. The demands include a solution to their accommodation problem, 40 per cent job quota for their dependents, separate seats for sick employees, and withdrawal of plans to demolish the sweeper quarters. Many patients rushing to the hospital could not enter the emergency department due to the demonstrations, according to a news agency.
