Agrani Bank managers urged to ensure more profit

Branch managers of Agrani Bank have been urged to come forward with dedication for earning more profit particularly from foreign exchange business.
Chairman of the board of directors of the bank and former secretary of the Ministry of Finance Siddiqur Rahman Chowdhury made the appeal while speaking as the chief guest at its managers' conference of Greater Dhaka district in the city Friday, said a press release.
Expressing concern over decline in deposit growth he urged the managers to take initiatives for increase of current deposit.
In this connection, he termed the private banks as the main competitors in business and pointed out that though small in size the lion's share of the profit of the whole banking sector were being bagged by private banks.
He also stressed the need for achieving the target of disbursement of agricultural loan.
The chairman further urged the managers to recover stuck-up and classified loans and develop the service of the counters to cope with the changing situation.
He requested the managers to acquire sufficient knowledge in computer as all the branches of the bank would be computerised.
Managing Director (additional charge) Syed Abdul Hamid presided over the conference.
Deputy General Manager Md Fayekuzzaman, all the general managers, all the zonal heads and branch managers of Greater Dhaka district were present at the conference, the release added.
