FE Report
The authorities Friday suspended recruitment test for posts of senior officer and officer (cash) of Agrani Bank Limited following protest by a group of applicants over mismanagement in the examination.
Talking to the FE, Kawser Hossain, an applicant, said they sat for the test under special quota (freedom fighter) at about 9:30am at Mohammadpur Preparatory Girls School & College and received the question papers.
"Within 5 minutes of the test, examiners asked us to wait for 60 minutes due to shortage of enough question papers. After 15 minutes, they informed us of suspending the test. This led to the protest," he said.
When contacted, Inspector (investigation) of Mohammadpur Police Station Jane Alam Munshi said a group of examinees came out of Mohammadpur Preparatory Girls School & College, where more than 3,000 applicants sat for the test, and went to the streets protesting the decision.
He said the examinees became unruly when they came to know that the examination was going on in other centres and started damaging glasses of the educational institution.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control after the authorities officially stopped the examination
Seeking anonymity, a senior official of the state-owned bank said the authorities decided to suspend the examination under unavoidable circumstances.
"I don't know what happened there and the reason behind it. The Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) is tasked with preparing the question papers," he said, adding that a fresh date for the test will be announced shortly.
