Samsung, an electronic products manufacturer has appointed another renowned brand manufacturer, Singer, to market its products through the retail outlets of the latter in Bangladesh.
An agreement to this effect was signed between president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Limited S. H. Oh and president and CEO of Singer Asia, Gavin Walker.
Under the agreement, customers can buy Samsung products from Singer outlets across the country, said officials of the both companies at a press conference at a city hotel Thursday.
The Samsung products that will be sold by Singer's extensive retail outlets include colour televisions, DVD players, refrigerators, microwave ovens, washing machines, air conditioners and audio ranges, said Deputy Managing Director of Samsung India Electronics Pvt Limited, Ravinder Zutshi.
"We will leverage Singer's strong channel presence to reach out to a larger base of customers in Bangladesh," Zutshi said.
He said Singer has a network of 230 brand shops from where Samsung products will be available. Singer's network will reinforce electra's existing network of over 30 brand shops and over 105 channel partners, he added.
He said currently Samsung has around 23 per cent market share of the consumer electronics and IT market in Bangladesh and aims to increase its market share to around 35 per cent in one year's time.
The company's (Samsung) IT product portfolio in Bangladesh includes colour monitors, hard disc drives and OMS products, he said.
Gavin Walker said such agreement between Samsung and Singer was signed in the early part of the year in Sri Lanka to boost the business of both companies through partnership.
He said signing of such agreement for increasing the sales will not hamper the brands of any company as this is not the merger of brands.
Walker said customers will be greatly benefited from such initiatives as they will be able to buy things of two different brands from one shop.
Vice-president of Singer Corporation and chairman and managing director of Singer Bangladesh Mahbub Jamil was among others was present at the press conference.
