Agro-processors urged to know about importers\\\' demand

The country's agro-processors have been urged to know about the requirements of the importers before going for export.
The observation was made at a Regional Meeting organised by BAPA-EU Project of SME Competitiveness Grant Scheme under Ministry of Industries 'on the prospects and the barriers of Agro Processing Sector' in the city on Saturday, said a press release.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Agro-Processors Association (BAPA) and Member of Project Management Team (PMT) Raju Ahmed presided over the meeting.
Among others, Iqtadul Hoque, treasurer of BAPA and member of PMT, Professor Md Moslem Ali, adviser of BAPA and member of PMT and Nurul Islam, chief technical adviser (CTA), BAPA-EU Project, were present at the meeting.
Representatives from different agro-processing companies took part in the meeting.
The meeting was organised in Dhaka region as the first step to be followed in other divisions of the country.
The purpose of the meetings is to know the regional prospects and the barriers to address in cooperation with the government and other development partners.
Taking part in the discussion, the stakeholders raised a number of difficulties they always face during certifications and exports.
The stakeholders also urged the BAPA to meet different government agencies and try to address the difficulties they face.
