AI presenter at Bangladeshi channel

Tuesday, 25 July 2023

Privately-run television station Channel 24 has recently introduced Bangladesh's first-ever artificial intelligence news presenter, Aparajita. The AI generated presenter made a brief appearance in the prime-time news bulletin of the channel on Wednesday evening for five minutes. In her first appearance on the screen, Aparajita, in a grey suit over a black shirt, greeted her co-presenter first before welcoming the audience in a female voice. We have come to know that this Aparajita will appear on other TV programmes soon. This is no doubt an encouraging piece of news itself for us.
AI is leaving its footprint in every industry. And it has entered the TV news industry as well. AI news presenters have already started presenting news in some of the channels in India and other countries. The use of artificial intelligence will make our life easier. We could be more productive if we can utilise the power of AI in a proper way. In Bangladesh, there should be more financial allocation for science-based education and research, and also for monitoring the progress in this sector. Just like other countries in the world that are using AI for their work, if we can adopt the technology, we will surely move forward. We do not want to lag behind in using the best of AI. The more united and prompt we are the more progress we can make in this regard.
