Akhaura Landport posts record revenue earnings

BRAHMANBARIA, Sept 01: Akhaura landport of the district realised a record revenue of more than Tk 13.12 million in the financial year of 2006-2007.
The landport realised the amount of revenue from export and import of goods.
Of the total, the department has realised Tk 3.09 million as import tax, Tk 79,801 as value added tax (VAT), Tk 0.46 million as development surcharge, Tk 3.23 million as supplementary tax, Tk 90,500 as penalty, Tk 92,016 as PSI, Tk 10834 as court fee, Tk 86500 as corridor tax, Tk 2.50 million as sales tax, TK 3.03 million as travel tax.
The exported goods were stones, dried fish, mola fish, cement, soap, vegetables, egg etc. And imported goods were coal, baby food, cloth, bicycle parts, Horlics, sugar etc.
Over Tk 8.62 million was realised in financial year of 2005-2006, Tk 4.49 million higher than that of the financial year of 2005-2006, sources said.
