AKTEL allies itself with Islamia Eye Hospital

AKTEL, a leading telecom service provider in the country, has joined hands with Islamia Eye Hospital for physical maintenance of the hospital's paediatric OPD unit for the fiscal 2007-08.
In this connection, AKTEL's Head of Corporate Affairs Javed Tariq handed over a cheque for Tk 1.0 million to Adviser of Islamia Eye Hospital Zaheda Ispahani at a simple ceremony in the city Monday.
Islamia Eye Hospital officially launched its child-friendly clinic of paediatric OPD on March 21 this year, said a press release.
Taking the initiative, AKTEL has also been honoured to be one of the founder-sponsors for setting up a child-friendly clinic with an outdoor provision for free eye care services to the underprivileged children around the country.
The number of child-patients has significantly increased since launching of the clinic.
Presently, the clinic treats more than a thousand children a day.
The facility provides various eye care services, including accidental injuries and cataract surgeries.
