AL activist dies, 10 injured in Pabna

A local activist of Awami League (AL) was killed and 10 other people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Pirpur village at Pabna Sadar upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Amzan Ali Mollah, 50, of the village under Bhadara union. Police and locals said two groups — one led by Hossain Mondal and Jalal Mondal — engaged in a brawl over catching fish in a water body at the village on Monday. As a sequel to the enmity, both groups locked in a fierce clash on Wednesday evening. A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left 11 people injured. Of them, Amzan, a local AL activist, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, according to UNB.
