AL activist gunned down

A local activist of Awami League was by miscreants in Phultala Upazila in Khulna district on Sunday night. The dead is Tayeb Ali Akunji, 46, son of Shamsur Rahman Akunji, a resident of Piprail village under Zamira Union in Phultala Upazila. Police and locals said, unidentified miscreants shot Tayeb at a point blank range around 11.00pm near his residence at Piprail village. He was returning home from Khatriyopara village of the upazila. He was rescued and rushed to local health complex where the doctor declared him dead. Officer-in-charge of Phultala Police Station Elias Fakir said, criminals shot on his head while he was gossiping with some villagers, a quarter kilometer away from his residence. A case was filed, according to a news agency.
