AL activist jailed for violating electoral rule

BHOLA, Mar 18 (UNB): A mobile court here Friday convicted a Awami League (AL) activist and sentenced him to 21 days' imprisonment for violating electoral code of conduct in union parishad election.
The convict is identified as Sabuj (18), son of Junu Majhi of Jahanpur Union in Charfasion Upazila.
Police said Sabuj, supporter of an AL-backed chairman candidate, threatened the rival supporters of a BNP-backed chairman candidate Thursday night.
Police arrested him and produced before a mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nur-e-Alam, which handed down the verdict for violating electoral code of conduct.
