AL- backed mayoral candidates go on full campaign
FE Report | Tuesday, 21 April 2015
Awami League-backed Dhaka South City Corporation mayoral candidate Syed Khokon said Monday that the upcoming election is a fight between the pro-liberation forces and defeated forces in 1971.
He was speaking at a programme organised by Sahosro Nagorik Committee in the city. Pro-Awami League doctors, engineers, journalists and academics attended the programme chaired by Syed Shamsul Haque.
Khokon is contesting the DSCC polls, slated for April 28, with hilsha fish symbol.
Chief coordinator of election campaign Dr Abdur Razzaque, member secretary of Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, general secretary of Dhaka University Teachers Association Dr Maksud Kamal, president of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, president of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Golam Quddus and its general secretary Hasan Arif and actress Afroza Banu, among others, were present.
However, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayoral candidate Annisul Huq urged all concerned not to resort attacks on BNP-backed candidate Tabith Awal's campaign.
