AL-BNP clash 25 hurt, four houses looted in Magura

MAGURA, May 7 (UNB): At least 25 people were injured as rival union parishad (UP) member candidates, backed by Awami League (AL) and BNP, clashed at Kalinagar village in Sreepur Upazila from Friday night to Saturday morning.
Supporters of BNP-backed Gafur member locked in an altercation with local AL leader Habibur Rahman over ensuing poll in Amalsar union and at one stage the two groups attacked each other with lethal weapons leaving five injured on both sides at Friday night.
The injured were admitted to Sreepur and Magura hospitals.
In sequel to the incident the two groups again engaged in fierce
clash Saturday morning leaving 20 injured on both sides.
At least four houses and one shop were ransacked and looted during the clash.
The situation gradually returned to normal after the police came on information at 11am.
The injured were taken to Dariapur and Magura hospitals.
