AL calls emergency meeting
Monday, 28 July 2014
Sheikh Hasina has convened an emergency meeting of the Awami League's Central Working Committee before the Eid-ul-Fitr. The party chief’s meeting call comes amid the BNP’s threats to hit the streets after the Eid to make the government accept its demand for an early poll supervised by a neutral caretaker government. Monday’s meeting will take place at Prime Minister Hasina’s official residence, the Ganobhaban, at 5pm, a statement of the ruling party has said. The AL has rejected the BNP's demand and announced to face it ‘in the streets’. The BNP-led alliance boycotted the Jan 5 polls resulting in a predictable landslide for the AL, according to bdnews24.com.
