AL, different bodies stage anti-hartal demos in city

The ruling Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and other socio-cultural organisations staged demonstrations in the city Thursday denouncing the hartal (total shutdown) called by Jamaat, reports BSS.
In the morning, anti-hartal public rallies, human-chain programmes and processions were organised at different places in the capital including at Bangabandhu Avenue, in front of the National Press Club, Matsya Bhaban intersection and on the campus of Dhaka University.
At about 9 am in the morning, Awami Juba League (AJL) formed a human-chain at Matsya Bhaban intersection. Dhaka City (South) unit AJL president Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat presided over the programme. It was also addressed, among others, by AJL chairman Omar Faruque Choudhury and general secretary Harun-ar-Rashid.
Later, an anti-hartal march was brought out from the venue. The slogan-chanting marchers paraded different city streets and rounded off the march at Bangabandhu Avenue. Awami Swechchasebak League (ASL) organised an anti-hartal rally in front of its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue also in the morning.
