AL factional clash kills 1 in Satkhira

SATKHIRA: A local Awami League activist was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two factions of the ruling party over establishing supremacy in Khazra union of Ashashuni upazila Sunday, according to a news agency.
The deceased was identified as Ashraf Ali Mollah, son of Amin Mollah of Khazra union.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.
Officer-in-charge Ahsan Habib of Ashashuni Police Station said the two groups of Awami League — one led by incumbent chairman of Khazra union Shah Newaz Dalim and the other by its former chairman Ruhul Quddus — locked in the clash in Godaipur area around 5:30 pm.
A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left at least 11 people, including Ashraf, injured from the both sides. About 25 crude bombs were also exploded during the clash.
