The 65th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League will be observed on Monday with various programmes. Founded on June 23 in 1949 at the historic Rose Garden in the old part of Dhaka, the party played a pioneering role in all movements for establishing democracy and rights of the people apart from leading the nation in the War of Liberation in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the party chief, issued a message on this occasion. Awami League has chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day, according to a news agency.
