SYLHET, Jan 27 (UNB): At least 20 people were injured, including two policemen, as a clash erupted between two feuding groups of the ruling party Awami League (AL) at Chhai Community Centre in Dakkhin Surma upazila on Friday night.
Sources said supporters of Mahmudus Samad Chowdhury, Member of Parliament of Sylhet-3 constituency, and followers of Habibur Rahman Habib, relief affairs secretary of the UK unit of AL, locked into the clash around 8:00pm over delivering speech at a meeting of the upazila unit AL at the community centre, said Khairul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Dakkhin Surma Police Station.
During the fight, men of both the groups chased and counter-chased each other, leaving the 20 people injured.
