AL leader beaten to death in Natore

NATORE, Sept 6 (BSS):  A sexagenarian Awami League (AL) leader was beaten to death in Krishnapur area in Bagatipara upazila of the district this afternoon, police said.
The deceased was identified as Mozammel Haque Moznu, 68, Vice-president of Natore Pourasabha unit of the ruling party, was a resident of Char Boidyanath area.
Quoting locals police said a group of unidentified miscreants suddenly way laid Moznu in the area while he was returning home from Bagatipara around 12.30 noon. They beat him indiscriminately and mercilessly and left him in an unconscious state.
Moznu succumbed on the way to local hospital, said Aminur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bagatipara thana.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
The matter is being investigated to detect the killers, the OC added.
UNB from Laxmipur adds: A ward-level AL leader who was beaten allegedly by some Jubo Dal men over establishing supremacy at Sondara village in Ramganj upazila on Friday died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital early Saturday.
