KHAGRACHHARI, May 29 (UNB): Police arrested Awami League (AL) leader Belal Hossain Patwary, one of the masterminds of the murder of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram, from a house in Matiranga upazila here early Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police, led by officer-in-charge M Main Uddin Khan of Matiranga Police Station, raided the house of one Abul Bashar of Alauddin member Para in Barnal union around 2 am today and arrested Belal, general secretary of Fulgazi upazila's Anandapur union unit Awami League and son of Raja Mia Patwary.
With Belal's arrest, the number of arrestees in the Ekramul murder case now stands at 22. Belal was said to be a close aid of slain Ekram.
