AL leader hacked dead in Mymensingh

Miscreants hacked a local Awami League leader to death in Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Mohar Uddin, vice-president of Ward-1 unit of Awami League under Niguari union and a resident of Makholkaldair in the upazila. Officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station Chan Miah said the miscreants swooped on Mohar at Dubail village around 8:30pm when he was returning home from Gayeshpur Bazar. The attackers chopped him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him injured, he said. Locals rescued the Awami League leader and took him to Sreepur upazila health complex in Gazipur where doctors declared him dead, according to a news agency.
