AL leader held in Jessore

BENAPOLE, Aug 27 (UNB): Police arrested a local leader of Awami League (AL) from Airport Road in Jessore in the early hours of Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Shaharul Islam, organising secretary of Jessore Sadar upazila unit of AL and son of Shukur Mandal, a resident of Balia Bhekutia village of the upazila.
Police sources said tipped off, a joint team of Detective Branch (DB) and Sadar thana conducted a drive in the area and arrested Shaharul while he was returning home by a car at 12:45 am.
Later, the law enforcers disclosed the arrest of Shaharul at about 1:30 am.
