AL leader, his grandson hurt in bomb attack

KHULNA, May 16 (UNB): A local the Awami League (AL) leader along with his grandson were injured in a bomb attack at his home at 8:30pm Sunday. Police and locals said, a group of 3-4 miscreants hurled six bombs on the law affairs secretary of Fultala upazila AL and also APP of the District Judge Court advocate Golam Mostafa Nabi (55), and his grandson Sheikh Nafiz Uddin (8), while they were standing in front of their home. The bombs blasted with a big bang and the miscreants fled away. Local people rescued them and brought them to Gafur Memorial Hospital in Fultala. Later Golam Mostafa was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He received bomb injuries in different parts of his body including right waist. Splinters hit the left hand and back portion of Nafiz's body. Police arrested seven persons in this connection after conducting raids in different areas Sunday night. The arrestees are Enam Farazi, Lutfar Farazi, Khalilur Rahman Farazi, Tara Mir, Monirul Hawlader, Anis and Roman. They were being interrogated at the police station. It may be mentioned here that, Golam Mostafa was also came under attack on September 25 last year. At that time he narrowly escaped but was hit by a bullet. He had filed a case accusing 29 persons in this connection. But many of the accused still remain at large.
