AL leader killed in city

An Awami League (AL) leader has been killed in the capital's Mohammadpur area, reports bdnews24.com.
Kamal Hossain, a former education secretary of the ruling party for Ward No. 33, was attacked with sharp weapons by unidentified assailants on Monday evening.
The assailants carried out a premeditated attack using a sharp weapon, said Dipak Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur thana.
Kamal was taken to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, also known as Pangu Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
The police officer said the attack occurred when Kamal was playing Ludu with several others.
Ward Jubo League's Organisational Secretary Faruk Hossain said Kamal was attacked at the end of the second lane in Katashur.
The police have yet to identify the perpetrators or determine the motive behind the killing.
