AL leader shot dead in Jessore

A local Awami League leader was shot to death by some miscreants near Sheikhati Jamrultala area in Jessore Sadar Upazila on Wednesday night. The dead is Mahfuzur Rahman Khokon, 42, office secretary of Ward No-1 of Sultanpur unit AL and son of Moslemuddin of Sultanpur village. He was also a businessman, police and locals said. The victim's motorcycle driver Jahangir said a gang of unidentified miscreants sprayed bullets on Khokon around 8:30pm, while they were going to Sultanpur village. Seriously injured Mahfuzur Rahman was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital (JMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, according to a news agency.
