AL leader shot in front of home in Dhaka

A local Awami League leader in Dhaka’s Sutrapur has been shot in front of his house, police and family members said. Md Shaheed, the party’s Sutrapur unit general secretary, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after the incident on Tuesday night. DMCH Police Outpost’s ASI Haider Ali said Shaheed had bullet wounds in his stomach and right arm. The husband of Shaheed’s niece Md Shakil said the attack took place in front of Shaheed’s house in Debendranath Das Lane around 10:45pm. Shaheed was returning home on his motorcycle. When he stopped in front of his home, four unidentified men on two motorbikes shot him and sped away. He was taken to Mitford Hospital first and to DMCH from there, according to bdnews24.com.
