AL leader\\\'s house torched

SHARIATPUR, July 31 (UNB): Miscreants torched the house of a local Awami League leader, the prime accused in an attempted murder case, at Burihat in Sadar upazila early Friday.
Police and locals said rivals swooped on Mujibur Rahman alias Khokon member, education affairs secretary of Sadar upazila Awami League and president of Burirhat Bazar Traders' Association, on Monday following a previous enmity.
The attackers hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him injured. He was taken to a hospital in the capital.
Victim's wife Nasrin Begum filed a case on Wednesday, naming upazila Awami League member Latif Mollah as the prime accused.
As a sequel to the incident, miscreants set fire to the house of Latif Mollah after pouring petrol on it in the early hours of Friday.
On information, firefighters rushed in and brought the fire under control.
