'AL loses Bangabandhu's soldier at Razzak's death'

Sunday, 1 January 2012

Leaders of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) Saturday said they have lost an ardent soldier of Bangabandhu at the death of Abdur Razzak, one of the organisers of the War of Liberation and a leader of the party, reports BSS.
Proper respect could be shown to Abdur Razzak by establishing the ideals of Bangabandhu, they said at a commemorative meeting at Shilpakala Academy in the city.
The speakers discussed various aspects of the significant political life of Abdur Razzak, a former minister and chairman of parliamentary standing committee on Water Resources Ministry, at the meeting organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote.
AL central leader Amir Hossain Amu, former general secretary Abdul Jalil and Advisory Council Member Tofail Ahmed took part in the discussion.
Presided over by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote President Hassan Imam, the discussion was also addressed by Vice-Chancellor World University of Bangladesh Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Krishak League Vice-president Sheikh Jahangir Alam, Dhaka city AL Organising Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, AL Health Affairs Secretary Dr Dilip Roy and Krishak League Secretary MA Karim, among others.
Amir Hossain Amu said Abdur Razzak was uncompromising about ideals and leadership of Bangabandhu. For this reason, Abdur Razzak had stuck to BKSAL when other leaders returned to AL, he added.
Abdur Razzak had strengthened the party at the grassroots level after the martyrdom of Bangabandhu, he said and added that he had worked with Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam in the street for the trial of war criminals.
Abdul Jalil said Abdur Razzak had tried throughout his life to establish a 'Sonar Bangla' as had been dreamt by Bangabandhu.
The large gathering of people in his funeral proved how popular he was, he said and added that Abdur Razzak never compromised with anything unjust.
Tofail Ahmed said, "Razzak Bhai is my leader." He was a sacrificing and popular leader and this has been proved through the respect shown by the people of all strata after his death, he added.
Abdur Razzak had struggled until his death to build the country as per Bangabandhu's ideals upholding non-communal spirit and the democratic trend, Tofail Ahmed said.
Hassan Imam called upon all to materialise the dream of Abdur Razzak to establish the ideals of Bangabandhu.
