MAGURA, June 1 (UNB): Activists of ruling Awami League (AL) swooped on BNP office and a hostel of Islami Chhatra Shibir in the district town, leaving four people injured Saturday.
AL activists attacked the district BNP office and damaged microphone and signboard when a meeting on the occasion of 28th death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman was going on.
Being terrified at the sudden attack, the BNP activists fled away.
Later, the ruling party men swooped on a hostel and an office of Shibir and ransacked their belongings at College Para. Three Shibir men -- Saiful, Manik and Moniruzzaman -- were injured in the attack.
The attackers also set ablaze the hostel. Fire service personnel later doused the fire.
Shayesta Khan, general secretary of district Shibir, said that the attackers looted cash, cell phone sets and bicycles.
AL men later also beat up Shahabuddin Sohag, convener of district Chhatra Dal, leaving him critically injured at Stadium Para. He was admitted to Sadar hospital.
