AL mistake made BNP big party: Bablu

Jatiya Party MP Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu on Wednesday said it was Awami League's 'mistake' in 1990 which made BNP such a big party. "There was no level-playing field in the elections after Jatiya Party handed over power in 1990. I and all of our leaders were sent to jail. We were not even allowed to hold meetings and processions," he said taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget. He said if Awami League played due role, then the BNP would not be in today's position. “We would have occupied BNP's place. The Awami League's lack of farsightedness has made BNP a banyan tree," he said, according to a news agency.
