AL needs to come to power again: Hanif

Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Wednesday said the ruling Awami League should come to power once again as it always works for the development of the country and the welfare of its people, reports BSS.
"Ziaur Rahman, Ershad and Khaleda Zia were absorbed in luxury when they came to power. Their aim was to stay in power and hence they could not do any work for the development of the country and the welfare of the people. Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the country is moving forward. That is why, AL needs to come to power again to continue this trend," he said.
The AL leader made the remarks at the triennial conference of wards 8 and 93 of Shah Ali police station of Dhaka North City Unit of AL.
Referring to the visionary leaders such as former Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad and Singapore's long-time leader Lee Kuan, he said Bangladesh has got the second visionary leader after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
"Bangladesh's per capita income has now increased to US$2,860 from US$600 because of the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
