AL office, 3 shops gutted in Sylhet fire

An Awami League local office and three shops were gutted as a fire broke out in Lamakazi Bazar area in Bishwanathpur Upazila of Sylhet district on early Thursday morning. Fire service sources said originating from an electric short circuit, the fire broke out at a shop at Lamakazi Bazar around 2:30am and soon engulfed the adjoining AL office and three other shops. Being informed, a firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after one hour of frantic efforts. Fire service sources said the extent of loss was estimated at TK 0.50 million. Jabed Hossain, station officer of Sylhet fire station, confirmed the incident, according to UNB.
